The fight against corruption, the dissatisfaction with the processes of privatization, the burgeoning of capitalism, as well as the resistance against drastic social stratification as their direct and inevitable consequence are commonplace in a modern democratic society. The phenomena caused by the existence of such negative factors are present and appear almost on a daily basis in the form of public protests, demonstrations, petitions, and similar kinds of civil actions. Nonetheless, almost as a rule, all attempts at rebellion of this kind take place on the principle of the unbalance of forces between the people wanting change and thus standing up together and the rigid structures comprising of financial and political power figures whose influence in decision-making by far surpasses the local context of a certain problem.
Exhibition: Goodbye Underground: Saša Marković Mikrob, Salon of Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Belgrade| February 27 – March 18, 2012
By: Ana Bogdanović
For Saša Marković Mikrob (1959-2010), also known as the Mexican, the Groom, Bamboo and Ganesh, we can safely say, without any exaggeration, that he enjoys a cult status on Belgrade’s art and cultural scene in the recent decades. Through active and very specific involvement in the domain of visual art, journalism and authentic social activism, he has left a varied and comprehensive opus that has been reverently explored in this homage exhibition Goodbye Underground: Saša Marković Mikrob, at the Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade. Drawings, masks, fanzines, photo booth materials, documents of his performances, actions and exhibitions, as well as video works, CD covers and installations are all on display in a precise, measured and communicative concept by Dejan Sretenović, the curator. more >

Whenever there is collaboration between the former Yugoslav republics, all of which are independent states today, it is hard to avoid mentioning the past and the roles some of the republics played. However, despite the differences in secession procedure, it is undeniable there are many similarities in the ongoing processes, as well as issues the young countries are facing. more >
Exhibition: Art is Beautiful, Art Pavilion, Zagreb, November 10 – December 31, 2011
By: Tihana Bertek
Art is Beautiful is a multi-layered project, both conceptually and practically, designed for the Art Pavilion in Zagreb and managed by the sculptor, designer and exhibition author Ante Rašić. This multimedia exhibition with a provocatively banal title happens on several levels and in several stages. Although the entire concept is based on sculptural installation/space intervention, Rašić also uses elements of performance, audio and urban installation, all supported by elaborate web and Facebook pages.

Glumice i to, KNAP, Zagreb, premijera 12.5.2012.
